An Evaluation of Canada’s Well Central Recovery College

The Virtual Recovery College Project known as Well Central is a unique new e-mental health innovation platform designed and operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association: Manitoba and Winnipeg with funding from Canada Health Infoway.

Well Central is an online platform that has been designed to engage and support people on a journey to better mental health, wellbeing, and recovery. Well Central is accessible and completely free virtual Recovery College offering interactive courses that empower people to take control of their mental health and wellbeing.  The Well-Being Course is the first to be designed and offered on the Well Central platform.  This course, available in French and English, offers unique, interactive learning processes which guide learners through content about six dimensions of wellbeing: physical, social, emotional, cognitive, meaning and purpose and environmental wellbeing. Well Central’s Well-being Course was pilot-tested in 2020 in Atlantic Canada and Manitoba with support from ACCESS Atlantic Collaboration convened by Canada Health Infoway. The initial pilot course was delivered to approximately 250 participants to date from across five provinces in Canada.

  • Evaluate

Young Lives will conduct a thorough evaluation of the Well-Being Course and the Well Central Portal providing feedback to CMHA for the ongoing development of e-mental health solutions.

  • Collaborate

Our evaluation approach is student-centred and collaborative with experiences and needs of learners and the design team at CMHA-M&W in mind. The pilot data will provide lessons and recommendations for ongoing course development and implementation.

  • Innovate

Like so much of our work at Young Lives, with this Evaluation we seek to understand and support these innovative and engaging methods of teaching and learning about wellbeing.
